HCE are thrilled to be involved in the New Care Facility project for M&D Care Ltd in Penygroes, Carmarthenshire.
This facility will eventually become an assisted living facility for adolescents and young adults.
Working alongside Adrian Philips of architects AP-AP, our scope at HCE is the provision of the complete civil and structural detailed design for construction.
Due to challenging site levels the storm water run-off and SAB compliant SUDs design comprises a series of terraced permeable paving and tarmacadam to maximise attenuation efficiency.
The permeable paving provides water treatment and attenuation together with rainwater gardens and planters to enhance biodiversity and amenity onsite. Rainwater butts are included to harvest water from the roof, which will be used to water plants and soft landscaped areas.
Discharge to an adjacent watercourse is managed via vortex flow control devices from that have been designed to ensure that discharges from site are below the greenfield runoff rate.
The new care facility comprises a contemporary two-storey timber framed building with a rendered blockwork elevations providing four assisted living apartments with external private garden areas at ground floor and a communal kitchen, staff office, meeting room and sleeping quarters at first floor.
HCE have submitted the SAB application for the SW SUDSs design and are currently finalising the structural design.
